I’m Just a Procrastinator: Procrastinator Identity
Repeated, failed attempts to break chronic procrastination can leave you feeling discouraged and demotivated. Sometimes, it seems like you are destined to procrastinate, as if that behavior has become your identity. It’s a vicious, self-reinforcing cycle because the more procrastinator becomes your identity, the more it becomes a self-fulfilling prophesy.
Sadly, this attitude leads students to give up. They think that they will always be stuck in a boom and bust cycle of productivity, only able to be productive when up against an imminent deadline. But, you can break this cycle. You can become a recovering procrastinator. There are ways to be productive without the distress of waiting for those last minute bursts of anxious energy. So, if you worry you’ll forever be trapped in a cycle of chronic procrastination then you need this module.
However, if you know that procrastination is a habit not an identity. And, if you know that with the right approach, you can learn to do better. Then you can skip this module and move onto the next: Low Distress Tolerance. Go ahead and mark this module complete and move on using the buttons at the bottom of the page.
